So, it starts with my top fifty songs of 2016, the reason I brought it back this year is because there were so many songs that I obsessed over that were released as singles or on EPs/albums that didn’t make it in my top albums list. Dig in! Continue reading

Ithaca – “TRESPASSERS” EP Review

Ithaca – Trespassers
Genre: Chaotic Hardcore/Hardcore

Label: COF Records / Soaked In Torment Records

If you’re new to this London lot like I was, let me share some basics: Ithaca are a five-piece that are pissed, mixing hardcore with chaos and emotive influence. Imagine a mash of Throats and Botch, with a bits of Curl Up And Die and Loma Prieta, and you’re pretty close – so to fans of the genres that those bands are associated with, Ithaca will seem familiar but fresh. This is their second EP to date and is made up of four short, sharp tracks. Continue reading

Top 30 Albums of 2014: 30-16

Here’s the first half of the top 30 albums of 2014! While this year didn’t impress me anywhere near as much as last year, there were still dozens of great releases, especially in the second-half of the year. I guess as well, since this year has been very quiet for the Rich Reviewz blog (for personal reasons – 2015 will be the return of regular posts), you can see all the albums I’d wish I could have spoken about. Continue reading

My TEMPLES FESTIVAL 2014 Experience

This is the second (and final) attempt at reviewing the weekend because the original draft reached 1,250 words by the time I covered Electric Wizard – the headliner of the first night – and I know no-one loves music enough to read an essay. So here’s my run at a brief cover of the weekend, to make it less painful for you and me.  Continue reading

Trash Talk – “119” Review

Trash Talk – 119
Genre: Hardcore Punk/Hardcore

Label: Odd Future Records/Trash Talk Collective

Do Trash Talk really need an introduction at this stage? If you haven’t heard their music, you might have heard about their riotous (literally at times) gigs, and if you haven’t heard about those either then you’re bound to have just heard their name through a friend or other bands talking about them. You’d literally have to be a musical hermit to have passed their name without a blink. If you are this hermit, then let me give you a “Trash Talk 101”.  Continue reading
